CCRC application lodged

Tuesday 3rd April 2012 was an historic day for the campaign. On that day the application to the Criminal Cases Review Commission was finally lodged at the CCRC’s headquarters in Birmingham by a group of the pickets including Ricky Tomlinson, Terry Renshaw, Kevin Butcher and Des Warren’s son, Andy. They had gathered earlier in the morning in the Green Room, Duke Street, Liverpool with members of the Shrewsbury 24 Campaign Committee. Interviews were conducted with Radio 5 Live, BBC North West Tonight, BBC Radio Merseyside and Radio Shropshire before they all set off for the journey down the M6.

After the application had been presented to the CCRC a meeting was held in the offices of the Midland TUC. In attendance to offer their support to the campaign were a delegation from UCATT headed by Steve Murphy, General Secretary, John McDonnell MP and officers from Shropshire & Telford Trades Council.
